How I Make My Life Easier as a Homebody

When I stepped into yet another living abroad series of my life I knew that I would be spending most of my times at home. Back in Indonesia life was definitely more happening with (almost) daily hangout with my friends, going to zumba class, having coffee meet ups or pack up my schedule with client meeting and business training. But here, life is quieter. Which I like.

But, quieter doesn’t equal to less busier.

I find it even more challenging because with lesser pressure it is easier for me to slipp into my lazy comfort zone. Sitting around the whole day, with coffee and some K-drama is an ideal day for me to spend. However, I don’t want that. I want a productive day, every day, to successfully juggle my house chores (which have never been my forte), my business, my passion project (I’ll talk about this in another post) and my me-time.

The usual morning coffee. Black. No sugar.

So if you are having the similar life like mine and most of the time feeling overwhelmed with your day to day life, probably some of my tips here can help you a bit.

This is how I make my life easier:

Morning Routine

I think this is the most important part to set up the rest of my day. If I got everything under control in the morning, I would be rest assured that my whole day would be good. My morning routine involves manifesting, coffee time and light work out. I do this after the morning rush subsides and the kids and husband have gone to the school and office respectively.

Down time after work out.
My manifesting notes. I use goodnotes app for all my digital planner/notes.

I use Canva ready-made template for my manifestation. You can download it here for free.

House Chores Delegation

My sons are teenagers, so we are giving them more responsibilities to help around the house. I created a weekly schedule to divide the chores between them like throwing garbage, laundry, setting up and clearing the dining table for meal times and washing dishes. Also, they are responsible to clean their own room.

I am using a ready-made template I found on Canva. If you want, you can download it here for free.

Time Blocking

I used to be big on making to-do list. But sometimes I was too ambitious and make a bigger list that at the end of the day I find it hard to finish. I tried to stick to 3 goals a day, but that also wasn’t enough. So I chose to do time blocking, which turned out to be a perfect time and task management system for me. I use google calendar to do this and put it up on my phone screen for easy access.

My time-blocking template looks like this. I fill it up with details of additional things to do, if needed.

There are three mantras that I love to tell myself when things get a bit tough for my mental health:

  1. It’s not difficult, it just needs more effort.
  2. This too shall pass.
  3. What else is possible?

At the end of the day, I believe that we must have a fullfilled-self in order to be able to give to others. So self-care and own-happiness are two priorities for me so I can send good energy and positive vibes to the people around me. Easy life makes me happy ^^.

Now tell me, what your take on this matter? What is your priority in life? Are my tips helpful?

  2. dulu zaman masih ngantor hidup berasa teratur banget.. ada priorities yg memang hrs aku duluin. tapi setelah resign dan di rumah, awalnya sempet bingung, kayak ga ada kegiatan.. rumah pun udh dilakuin ama asisten2. tapi akhirnya aku bikin to-do list mba.. dan itu membantu sih untuk punya arah kegiatan mana yg hrs aku lakuin seharian ini.

enaknya, krn udah ga ngantor, aku jd punya banyaak waktu buat ngerjain hobby.. kalo sedang ga traveling, hobi lain ya nge gym, baca, drakor, update blog.. etc.. dengan ada list, aku merasa terarah aja jadinya..
