Newly Found Love: Cortado

As a coffee lover, I have two rules: one, I will only order for a cup of americano no sugar when I am at my usual coffee shops, two, I will order capuccino if I am not familiar with the coffee shop yet. In my opinion, a cup of capuccino is a safe choice when I don’t know what kind of bean is used for the coffee.

Some can call me a lame coffee lover, but the truth is I don’t really like 100% Arabica. I am more of a robusta girl. Back home my coffee stocks are Excelso Robusta Gold. I just don’t like the acidity that some arabica have.

However, on a weird side, I can still bear some 100% Arabica beans used in Starbucks or Kopi Kenangan (Indonesian would know this coffee brand).

Now that I am in a middle east country where drinking coffee is more of a culture, I could only find arabica. So choosing what kind of coffee for my daily intake at home has been always a gamble. For instance, recently I bought a full package of Davidoff Coffee and the acidity is in full swing, I can’t take it.

One day, on our usual hangout session at Nero cafe, Al Hamra Mall, Jimmy (my husband) ordered his favorite cortado. He told me that I had to try switching my capuccino to cortado because it “tastes better”.

I wasn’t convinced. At first.

But today, I finally cave in and decided to give it a go.

We found a beautiful little coffee shop at the corner of RAK Mall lobby. The decor was so cutesy with lots of colors and of course, the pastries presentation really entertains my eyes. Jimmy and I each ordered a cup of cortado and we shared a piece of Nutella cupcake.

Well, I must say I do love the cortado. The cup is tiny (not as big as the one used for capuccino), which makes it the perfect size for me.

I think it is settled now. I have found a new love.

  1. waaah aku belum segitunya ama kopi mbaaa :D. sukaaa sih kopi, malah lebih suka kopi drpd teh. tapi aku belum bisa menikmati rasa kopi amerikano atau kopi hitam . tanpa gula pula :D.. 1-1 nya aku bisa minum es amerikano itu pas di aceh.. iseng cobain es kopi , yg biasa diminum ama orang2 aceh ini, dan aku sukaaaa. pahitnya ga kuat.

tapi untuk di tempat lain, aku msh pilih yg aman, kopi susu gula aren hahahahaa. kafe favorit ku kalo di Indonesia kopi tuku.

tapi kemarin pertamakalinya cobain kopi luwak di Tugu Kawisari Menteng.. dan langsung sukaa ^o^. walaupun harga segelas 100rb ke atas, tapi cocok ama seleraku.. sama kayak es kopi aceh yg dulu aku minum, rasanya agak kecoklatan dan ga terlalu pahit.

Terlalu asem X_X.
