Shelorina’s Corner

Of all the twelve months in a year, October is the one that I have been waiting for. Matter of fact, I may not be the only one, especially here in the UAE. After devouring the soaring Sun for nearly five months, mid-October feels like a refreshing shower for most of us.

At home, we have started to switch on the water heater. The ACs usage has also been reduced significantly. The Sun is getting late to rise. So as the temperature drops, we figure to embrace it with a breakfast by the beach.

Ras Al Khaimah, being the Emirate with the longest coast line, offers so many beaches. We are lucky to stay near one of them, which is Flamingo Beach. Though it opens for public, the beach is always clean, tidy and quiet. Few cafes are situated in the area facing the ocean. Our favorite is the Decaf Dessert & Coffee Lab.

It is perfectly facing the Flamingo Beach and opens the earliest amongst the other cafes in the area. The cafe consists of two areas, one is within the building with very limited view, the other one is like a glass house offering 360 outdoor view but with air conditioner. From whichever side you are seated, you can catch the glimpse of the glowing blue ocean waving quietly. Especially in the morning.

This time, we opted for a simple menu. Because I was still on my calorie deficit journey, I went with the yoghurt, granola and berries (my usual breakfast at home, nothing new) but here, it was super delicious. I was having it with a cup of cappuccino. J enjoyed his americano with turkish egg breakfast (I forgot the name), while the boys had a big breakfast and eggs benedict.

It has been our third (maybe fourth) visit to this cafe. I must tell you, they never disappoint. The menu selection, the taste, the service and the ambience are always superb.

Decaf Dessert & Coffee Lab is one of few cafes in Ras Al Khaimah that I would pray for to have a long lasting existance with many many success. You should come by whenever you are in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
